Working day 1: PAKSE ARRIVAL
Pakse, the provincial capital of Champasack at the raccord of the Mekong and Sedon rivers, is the centre for trading between Laos and Thailand as well as gateway to the fascinating south. Meet up with your guide and take a drive to visit the stunning pre-Angkorian serenidad, Wat Phou, built between 6th and 13th hundreds of years. Reaching there needs a local ferry crossing and a drive along the charming village. Lying on a hillside and offering impressive thoughts about the bordering plains and Mekong Riv, the UNESCO World History site is divided in two parts. The lower part involves two ruined development buildings at the border of a pond. The upper section with the temple sanctuary itself once enclosed a sizable Shiva verge (linga). Historians believe this great site was chosen by the Khmers because of a natural spring that flows from mountain and the peak's resemblance of a Shiva phallus.
